Contraindications, Warnings, and Precautions

Contraindications

IPL hair removal device is not suitable for everyone; please refer to the following detailed information before use:

  1. Do not use the device if you have very dark skin (Type 5 or Type 6 on the Fitzpatrick Skin Chart). Very dark skin may absorb too much light energy and injure (e.g. burn, scars, etc) the skin.
  2. Do not use the device if your skin has been artificially or naturally tanned recently or is burned from overexposure to sunlight. Your skin may be extra sensitive following sun exposure and particularly susceptible to side effects of IPL treatment (e.g. burn, blister, discolor or scar your skin).
  3. Do not use if you are sensitive to sunlight (photosensitivity) or are taking a medication that causes photosensitivity e.g., certain antibiotics such as tetracycline, NSAIDS such as ibuprofen or retinoids such as Accutane and/or topical retinoids such as Retin A. Always check the instructions that come with your medical products to see if photosensitivity is listed as a side effect. Seek medical advice if you are unsure of whether it is suitable to use IPL Hair Removal Device. Using the device on photosensitive skin could result in skin damage including blisters and swelling.
  4. Do not use the device if you have a history of skin cancer or pre-cancerous lesions (e.g. nevi or a large number of moles).
  5. Do not use if you are pregnant or lactating.
  6. Do not use the device on people under the age of 18. The effects of using the device in this age group are unknown.

Warnings

NEVER USE THE DEVICE ON THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

  • Around the eyes and near the eyebrows.
  • On selected areas of your skin that have darker pigment (Fitzpatrick 4 and above), as often occur on the areola, anus and sometimes the genitals.
  • On course/thick facial hair, which can lead to a patchy appearance.
  • Over and near anything artificial like silicone implants, pacemakers, subcutaneous injection ports (insulin dispenser) or piercings.
  • On moles, freckles, large veins, darker pigmented areas, scars, and skin anomalies without consulting your doctor. This can result in a burn and a change in skin color, which makes it potentially harder to identify skin-related diseases.
  • On warts, tattoos, or permanent make-up. This can result in a burn and a change in skin color.
  • On areas where you are wearing long-lasting deodorants. Use on unclean skin can result in a skin reaction.
  • Never use this device on sunburn or recently tanned or fake tanned skin.
